Francis Boulard and his daughter Delphine carry on a family winemaking legacy that dates back six generations, with the earliest recorded ancestor born in 1792, during the French Revolution. Francis’s winemaking story begins with his grandfather, Julien Boulard, who instilled his passion in him at the age of 14—plowing the vineyards behind Bijou, a sturdy Ardennes horse, thus resisting mechanization to preserve tradition.

The family vineyard spans 2.75 hectares in the Massif de Saint-Thierry and the Marne Valley, plus an additional 0.60 hectares under sharecropping in Mailly Grand Cru, in the Montagne de Reims—one of the few villages in Champagne classified as 100% Grand Cru. Biodynamic practices were introduced as early as 2001, under the guidance of Jacques Mell, initially focused on a few iconic plots such as the famous Rachais, before being extended to the entire estate.

The Mailly Grand Cru cuvée, made exclusively from grapes grown on the limestone slopes of this exceptional village, reveals all the elegance and finesse characteristic of a Grand Cru—a Champagne in its purest form, a testament to Francis Boulard’s winemaking talent.
