The Langhe Nebbiolo from Domaine Rizzi has an intense, limpid garnet-red color. This great Italian wine develops very fine, elegant aromas of violets and undergrowth, roses and berries (wild strawberries first and foremost), followed by spices. On the palate, it has a lovely dense body, with well-integrated but present tannins; we note aromas of red fruits, herbs and white pepper.
The history of Cantina Rizzi began in 1973–1974, when Ernesto Dellapiana, born in Alba in 1940, left Turin and his career as an entrepreneur with his wife to settle on Collina Rizzi, a majestic hill overlooking the small village of Treiso, in the heart of the Barbaresco region. Driven by his passion for the Langhe region, he purchased this historic family estate and then expanded the property over the decades: Cascina Boito in 1984, the Villa Manzola farm in 1997, and new plots in Treiso, Neive, and Neviglie through 2016.
Today, the 40-hectare estate is managed entirely by the Dellapiana family, with son Enrico serving as winemaker and oenologist. Twenty hectares of Nebbiolo, planted at altitudes ranging from 200 to 430 meters on white calcareous marl soils, produce elegant and sophisticated Barbaresco wines from the Rizzi, Pajoré, Nervo, Manzola, Giacone, and Bricco di Neive. The remaining 20 hectares, located in Neviglie, produce Langhe Nebbiolo, Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, and Moscato d’Asti. The estate participates in “The Green Experience” program, ensuring sustainable production practices.

The Saint-Joseph 2022 from Domaine Combier is a sure bet from the estate. This 100% Syrah organic wine comes from granite slopes, farmed organically for over 30 years. The Saint-Joseph comes from vines over 40 years old, benefiting from full southern exposure. The wine is full-bodied, greedy and spicy, with excellent ageing potential.

Echappée Belle is an organic Corbières from Château de Caraguilhes dominated by carignan . The nose develops notes of pepper, liquorice and black fruit. On the palate, we find the freshness of the carignan and its red fruit notes. Great length!

Les Cocalières rouge is a cuvée from Domaine d'Aupilhac which we particularly appreciate thanks to its great balance. Montpeyroux has a very southern feel, while Les Cocalières has that freshness and refinement that make it so charming. A magnificent cuvée in 2020 that will age for 10 years without any problem. La Roque du Mas del Périé is a cuvée of rare elegance. The Malbec is truly highlighted by incredibly fine tannins and bright fruit. The wine reveals notes of black fruit, zan and cloves. The palate is round, full and charming. A superb success! Our favorite of the range!
