Le Clos de l'Ours in a few words....
Le Clos de l'Ours is a wine estate of character located in the heart of Provence, at the crossroads between the Mediterranean, the Gorges du Verdon and the Côte d'Azur, near the village of Cotignac. The Clos de L'ours vineyard, at the gateway to the Haut Var, is bordered by a cirque of oaks and pines, and extends over 13 hectares in AOP Côtes de Provence. It has been farmed organically since 2000. Manual harvesting preserves the grapes and contributes to the elaboration of characterful cuvées highlighting our magnificent terroir.
We were thrilled by the estate's deep, complex wines. The rosé is already one of the best in the region, and the red is highly complex. A superb range.
The cuvée l'accent is Clos de l'Ours' 2018 rosé: a clear, gourmand and fleshy rosé that will manage to convince even the most skeptical about Provence's great rosés.
Milia is a taut, mineral organic white wine: a fresh provence to accompany fish and cheese.
Le Chemin du Clos de l'Ours is an elegant, complex red that requires a few years' cellaring to develop all its aromas. A wine that goes well with red meats, or dishes in sauce.
Finally, Urs du Clos l'Ours is an elegant, complex red that needs a few years of cellaring to develop all its aromas.
Finally, Ursus is Clos de l'Ours' great Syrah-based red cuvée: a powerful, full-bodied wine cut out for cellaring.
Some references in the Media:
September 5, 2018 - Antoine Gerbelle: "Clos de l'Ours, a polished red. In the north of a fresher, still-preserved Provence, Fabien Brotons makes unforgettable reds with his family. We fell in love with their 2016. Follow in their footsteps."
Cuisine & Vins de France - Hors Série Spécial Vins, September 2018 - Karine Valentin
"Le Chemin 2016: Fatness amplitude, chewiness and tension, radiant fruit, delicacy and beautiful fullness on notes of cocoa and black fruit. The wine exudes intense frankness and sweetness, along with biting tannins. This is the wine of all paradoxes - we love it."
