A 2023 organic dry white wine from Arbois Pupillin in the Jura, made from the "melon à queue rouge" grape, an ancient variety of Chardonnay. A new release from Domaine de la Pinte, cultivated using biodynamic methods.
The Melon à queue rouge is an old Jura Chardonnay variety, planted in Pupillin on lighter clay-limestone soils. The Domaine de la Pinte produces a dry white wine from it using biodynamic methods. This 2023 vintage is a new addition to Ardoneo’s selection.
Founded in the 1950s, the Domaine de la Pinte is now run by Pierre Martin. It has been certified organic since 1999 and has been farmed biodynamically since 2009. The vineyards span more than thirty hectares, between Arbois and Pupillin.
Pupillin is a small wine-growing village near Arbois that has its own appellation, Arbois Pupillin. Its soils are lighter than those of Arbois, resulting in more delicate white wines.
Melon à queue rouge is best served at 12–14 °C. It can be cellared for several years.
This dry white wine pairs well with fish, cream-based poultry dishes, or a Jura cheese such as Comté.
