The Mas d'Alezon, run by Catherine Roque, is located on the appellation's highest schist terroir. This Faugères vineyard, run biodynamically, is planted with mourvèdre, grenache and syrah. At Mas d'Alezon, the wines are matured in the most natural way possible, with the minimum of human intervention. Le Presbytère du Mas d'Alezon is a cuvée made predominantly from Grenache grapes. The wine develops notes of red fruit and garrigue, and is often only 12.5% alcohol. More powerful, the Cuvée Montfalette du Mas d'Alezon is made from Mourvèdre grapes: it has the density to last through the years, as well as great finesse and complexity, with notes of black fruit and licorice. A cuvée that rarely disappoints! In addition to Mas d'Alezon, Catherine Roque also runs Domaine de Clovallon with her daughter Alix, on the other side of the Faugères mountain. Guide des meilleurs vins de France 219, domaine 1 étoile: "We've fallen in love with Catherine Roque's wines: her Faugères are great successes once again."
