Émilien 2022 is the flagship wine of Château Le Puy: an organic and biodynamic red wine, a Vin de France from Saint-Cibard, east of Saint-Émilion, on a clay-limestone plateau. Blended from Merlot (85%), Cabernet Sauvignon, and a hint of Carménère, it offers juicy red fruit, a lively and taut palate, and a savory note. Aged for two years in large oak vats and then in barrels, without fining or filtration. L'Émilien is also featured in the manga *em* *Les Gouttes de Dieu* .
The 2022 Émilien offers succulent, juicy red fruit flavors and a lively, taut palate with a savory note that lends it depth. A vibrant Bordeaux that stands in contrast to powerful, oaky reds.
Château Le Puy has been cultivated by the Amoreau family since 1610: Jean-Pierre and his son Pascal now run the estate. It is situated on a plateau of the same geological formation as Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, at an elevation of 110 meters—one of the highest points in the Gironde region. The soils are a mixture of clay, flint, and limestone; the vines are 50 years old on average.
No synthetic treatments have ever been used on the estate, which is certified organic and biodynamic. Grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed, and undergo a long fermentation period of two to four weeks.
Spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks, followed by one year in 50-hectoliter casks, then one year in old 225-liter barrels, and bottled without fining or filtration. Aging follows the lunar cycle.
Approximately 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Carménère. Ready to drink now when decanted, or can be cellared until 2028 and beyond. Pairs well with red meats, roasted poultry, game, and aged cheeses.
In 2009, Château Le Puy was featured in the manga Les Gouttes de Dieu, which elevated the 2003 vintage of the Émilien to the status of a great wine. This recognition makes Émilien one of the most sought-after organic Bordeaux wines.
Why “Vin de France”? The estate, located on the outskirts of the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux region, markets this wine outside of any appellation.
Is Château Le Puy organic? Yes, it is organic and biodynamic, with no synthetic treatments.
What grape varieties are used? Mainly Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Carménère.
How does it differ from the Duc des Nauves? The Duc des Nauves is the more approachable cuvée, meant to be enjoyed young; the Émilien is the château’s age-worthy cuvée.

Here's a very pretty organic Lalande-de-Pomerol in a very sunny and powerful 2022 vintage. Château des Annereaux produces a wine with a fruity, harmonious attack. The elegant tannins are present but silky. The aromatic palette is marked by fruitiness and a restrained, mellow woodiness. Superb length. Elegance and balance rare in modern Bordeaux. We love this wine of character and elegance.
ClosePom'n'roll is a modern, atypical Pomerol! A blend of Merlot and Malbec, this organic Pomerol has an expressive nose with notes of black fruit and pepper. The palate is voluminous, fleshy and greedy. This lovely vintage promises good cellaring for the most patient!
CloseThis Château Mangot 2019 has a demonstrative, gourmand nose on black fruit notes just accompanied by a touch of breeding. The palate is round and greedy, resting on a beautiful substance and fine tannins.
CloseThe cuvée Les Ormeaux du Clos Puy Arnaud comes from vines with an average age of 30 years. A Cotes de Castillon partially aged in barrel and endowed with fine substance: gourmandise and complexity for this vintage that is slowly reaching its peak.
