Jean-Marc Boillot learned the trade under Olivier Leflaive as a cellar master before striking out on his own in 1985, gradually building his estate in Pommard. He brings with him a prestigious legacy: his maternal grandfather was none other than Étienne Sauzet, a legendary figure in Puligny-Montrachet, from whom he inherited exceptional vineyards. The estate now spans 11 hectares spread across Meursault, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Beaune, and Volnay—and is now supported by his daughter Lydie and son-in-law François, who are carrying on the tradition with the same high standards.

Historically, the estate has also made a name for itself in the Côte Chalonnaise with the Rully 1er Cru and the Montagny 1er Cru, produced through a bespoke wine-trading operation: rigorously selected purchases of grapes and musts, vinified with the same care as the great appellations of the Côte de Beaune. This dual expertise—as a winemaker on his own terroirs and a discerning négociant in the Côte Chalonnaise—enables Jean-Marc Boillot to offer a Rully that is both accessible and representative of his style: fruity, full-bodied, with that toasty signature that has made his reputation.
