About

La Bretonnière 2025, a Chenin from Vouvray by Taille aux Loups

The Bretonnière 2025 is one of the most distinctive wines from Domaine de la Taille aux Loups. While the estate is best known for its Montlouis wines, this dry white made from 100% Chenin comes from the Clos de la Bretonnière in Noizay, on the Vouvray side of the Loire River, across from Montlouis-sur-Loire. The vineyards overlook the Loire River, growing in clay soil resting on limestone. The wine is marketed as a “Vin de France,” yet it remains a great terroir-driven Chenin, grown using organic farming methods.

Tasting Notes

This Chenin stands out for its richness and minerality. It combines a full-bodied texture, notes of ripe fruit and white flowers, with the limestone-driven tension characteristic of Loire Chenin. The finish is long and briny. It can be enjoyed young, but it is designed to gain complexity with a few years of aging.

Food and Wine Pairings

Serve it at around 10 to 12 °C. It pairs well with cream-based poultry dishes, premium fish (sea bass, turbot, scallops), mushroom risotto, or a bold cheese such as Comté or a matured goat cheese.

The Estate

Founded in Montlouis-sur-Loire by Jacky Blot and his brother Jean-Philippe, Domaine de la Taille aux Loups is a leading producer of Chenin. It also cultivates vineyards in Vouvray, including the Clos de la Bretonnière.
