A Full-Bodied and Rich Altesse
Altesse, also known as Roussette in Savoie, is the premier white grape variety of the Savoie hillsides. In the Prieuré Saint-Christophe, it produces a dry white wine that is fuller-bodied than the estate’s other vintages: the nose combines white flowers and exotic fruits, while the palate is rich and indulgent, with notes of pineapple, candied pear, and a honeyed finish. The wine is aged in barrels and grows on limestone soils.
Domaine Giachino
This family-owned estate near Chambéry was taken over in 1988 by Frédéric Giachino and his brother David. Its vineyards are cultivated using organic and biodynamic farming methods. The wines are vinified with native yeasts and very little sulfur.
When to serve it?
Serve it chilled but not ice-cold, around 10 to 12 °C. It pairs well with shellfish, fish, raclette, and cheese platters.
