Climat 23-24 is a red Saint-Émilion from Château Mangot, owned by the Todeschini family: a blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc, worth trying alongside L'Autre Mangot and the Grand Cru.
Climat 23-24 is a cuvée from Château Mangot, the Todeschini family’s estate on the hillsides of Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, east of the Saint-Émilion appellation. The soils there are a mix of limestone, clay, and molasse, and the grapes are harvested by hand in successive passes, followed by spontaneous fermentation.
This cuvée combines 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc. Merlot contributes roundness and fruit, while Cabernet Franc adds freshness and refined tannins: the style of the Right Bank, without heaviness. The vineyard is in the process of converting to organic farming.
Climat 23-24 is ready to drink now, with an estimated peak around 2028. It pairs well with red meats, roasted poultry, and aged cheeses.
