The first vintage at Domaine des Schistes dates back to 1989, and the vineyard now spans 55 hectares. As its name suggests, the estate is planted primarily on schist-rich marl. The land is situated on the uppermost terraces raised by the emergence of the Corbières limestone massif; these terraces are primarily sloped. These soils produce powerful wines that are also very fruity and smooth. Domaine des Schistes has chosen to respect and express the terroir by transitioning to organic farming.
