The Domaine des Schistes lies at the crossroads of terroirs in the Agly valley, in the communes of Estagel, Tautavel and Maury. The first vinification at Domaine des Schistes dates back to 1989, and now the vineyard covers 55 Ha.As its name suggests, the estate is planted mainly on schistose marls. The land lies on the last terraces raised by the emergence of the Corbières limestone massif, and is mainly on slopes. The Domaine des Schistes has chosen to respect and express its terroir by turning to organic farming. The wines are good value for money, both reds and whites. Solus Blanc 2024 is the prestigious white cuvée from Château de Caraguilhes — "a remarkable gastronomic white wine, complex, powerful, and charming, with great delicacy." Gault & Millau.
A luminous pale gold color with brilliant highlights. A complex and precise nose—candied lemon, pink grapefruit, white flowers, a touch of fennel, and subtle woody notes. Lively and generous on the palate, round and fresh, with candied fruit and a long, mineral, and pure finish. Serve at 12°C; open 1 hour before serving.
65% White Grenache, 35% Roussanne, single vineyard "Champ du Château" at an altitude of 150–200 m, Boutenac terroir. Certified organic since 1987, biodynamic (Biodyvin and Demeter). Fermented and aged for 9 months in demi-muids.
Aging potential: at least 5 years.

Essencial Rouge 2024 is the heart of the Domaine des Schistes — "the very essence of the estate," a blend from the schist-covered hillsides planted with local grape varieties amidst the garrigue of Tautavel.
Deep garnet color. Expressive nose with intense red fruit notes, such as blackcurrant, and spices. Smooth on the palate, with volume and liveliness, a savory tannic structure, and a persistent, savory finish. Serve between 14 and 17 °C.
Lladoner pelut, Carignan, Grenache Noir, and a touch of Cinsault; Schist-rich marl, south-facing slopes, Tautavel commune, heart of the garrigue, early ripening. Destemmed harvest, 10-day maceration with light daily wetting, racking to air after malolactic fermentation, aged in cement tanks, no racking or sulfiting before bottling.
Best enjoyed 2024–2029.

Caune d'en Joffre du domaine des Schistes is a plot with an overwhelming majority of Carignan. This organic Roussillon wine has power and complexity, but with the freshness and mintiness given by this superb grape variety. A great success to drink over 10 years!
