About

Domaine Chevrot Santenay Vieilles Vignes 2023, organic Pinot Noir from Burgundy

The Domaine Chevrot is a family-run estate led by brothers Pablo and Vincent Chevrot, in Cheilly-lès-Maranges, at the southern tip of the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy. The 2023 Santenay Vieilles Vignes, from the Santenay, is a Pinot Noir made from old vines, deeper and more structured than the estate’s entry-level wines.

The Wine

This wine is a pure Pinot Noir, made from vines about fifty years old, grown organically on limestone soils. The soil is worked with draft horses. About half of the grapes are fermented as whole clusters, using native yeasts.

Tasting Notes

The nose evokes blackberry, cherry, and rose. The palate is fresh and taut, with noticeable yet well-integrated tannins and a mineral, savory finish.

Serving and Food Pairings

Serve at around 16 °C. It pairs well with roasted or grilled meats, poultry, beef, stews, mushrooms, and pasta Bolognese.
