Domaine Vico - Corsican Wine - Emera Red 2024

(Réf : EMERARG24)

Emera Rouge 2024 from Domaine Vico takes its name from a wild plant that grows around the vineyard—a rare and meticulously crafted cuvée, made from 100% Sciaccarellu grown on high-altitude blue schist using biodynamic methods.

The color is a luminous, translucent ruby. The nose is very expressive, with notes of raspberry, Mediterranean herbs, and a light floral touch. On the palate, it is fluid and elegant, with fine, silky tannins, vibrant fruit, and a slightly spicy, lingering finish. Serve at 15–16 °C.

Sciaccarellu 100% biodynamic, single vineyard at 290 m elevation facing northeast, blue schist and rounded pebbles, vines over 30 years old, Ponte-Leccia. Full destemming, native yeasts, 2,500-liter old casks, unfined and unfiltered.

Aging potential: 3–6 years.

About

Domaine Vico was founded in 1901 in the village of Ponte-Leccia, north of central Corsica—in the heart of a mountainous terroir that ranks among the island’s most unique. It is here, at an elevation of 290 meters on blue schist and rounded pebbles, that Sciaccarellu vines have thrived for over a century—the iconic grape variety of southern Corsica, which finds remarkable freshness and aromatic precision in this northern terroir. L’Emera takes its name from a wild plant that surrounds the vineyard—a poetic tribute to the natural environment in which these vines thrive.

Domaine Vico is certified biodynamic—a philosophy that guides every action in the vineyard and the winery. The unique Emera plot, facing due northeast, is planted with vines over 30 years old. Total destemming, fermentation with native yeasts, aging in large, old 2,500-liter casks—for slow and uniform micro-oxygenation without ever imposing oak notes. Bottled without fining or filtration.

The 2024 vintage reveals a translucent ruby color, a nose of raspberry and Mediterranean herbs, a smooth and elegant palate, fine and silky tannins, and a spicy, lingering finish.

Serve at 15–16 °C. Pairings: Corsican charcuterie, veal, braised chicken, Corsican cheeses. Aging potential: 3–6 years.
