David Duband, considered one of Burgundy’s rising stars, took over the family estate in Chevannes, in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, when it was passed down to him in 1991. Starting with small family-owned plots, he has gradually expanded his portfolio of exceptional vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin and Morey-Saint-Denis, and today cultivates 17 hectares according to Ecocert-certified organic standards.
The Louis Auguste cuvée, named in honor of his son, is undoubtedly the estate’s most iconic wine. It comes from plots located in Chevannes, planted on steep south/southwest-facing slopes, at altitudes between 335 and 450 meters, on a limestone base covered with a thin layer of clay and gravel—a high-altitude terroir that gives the Pinot Noir rare tension and purity. The winemaking process incorporates a significant proportion of whole clusters (up to 60% depending on the vintage), followed by aging in French oak barrels with a small proportion of new wood, without filtration or fining.
The result is a Hautes-Côtes de Nuits highly sought after by purists, offering remarkable value for money that combines intensity, balance, and suppleness.
