"It's known as the 'wine of the sands.' 5 hectares planted 800 meters from the ocean—it’s a unique vineyard, a gem nestled between the ocean and the forest, just a stone’s throw from downtown." — Domaine de la Pointe.

Les Pieds dans le Sable is a cuvée that tells a story dating back seven centuries. In the 14th century, the fishermen of Capbreton planted vines for a very specific purpose: to hold back the shifting dunes that threatened to submerge their homes. This innovative method quickly became part of the heritage of the town and the Landes coast. But this historic vineyard gradually disappeared and lay abandoned for nearly a century—until 1995, when it was entirely replanted with the original grape varieties: Chenin, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Domaine de la Pointe carries on this unique tradition, cultivating the last remaining vines of this historic Capbreton vineyard.

The uniqueness of the Les Pieds dans le Sable cuvée lies in its hybrid and unprecedented terroir: it combines two radically different types of sand. To the east, the Sables Fauves—smooth, clay-loam deposits on gentle slopes, rich in iron oxide, well known in Armagnac as the preferred terroir of Bas-Armagnac, which bring remarkable minerality and freshness. To the west, the Sables de l’Océan—the pure coastal terroir of Capbreton, which fully expresses the uniqueness of the Landes soil facing the Atlantic. This unique combination of two types of sand gives the wine freshness, savory depth, and crisp fruitiness—a signature impossible to replicate elsewhere.

The vineyard spans 5 hectares planted just 800 meters from the ocean—a unique wine-growing setting in France, nestled between the Landes forest and the Atlantic Ocean, a stone’s throw from downtown Capbreton. Chenin, a historic grape variety replanted in 1995, expresses remarkable freshness and aromatic tension on these sandy soils, enhanced by the constant maritime influence.

The 2025 vintage has a clear, limpid, and brilliant color. The nose is rich and fresh, with lovely citrus aromas—mandarin, grapefruit—and a light aromatic intensity that gradually opens up upon aeration to reveal exotic fruits, notably Victoria pineapple and orchard fruits. The palate is lively and full-bodied from the first sip; the acidity builds gradually and balances out through the finish with white-fleshed fruits—bringing a sharp, lingering salinity, a direct signature of the vineyard’s proximity to the ocean.

Serve between 8 and 10 °C. Pairings: aperitif, oysters, shrimp, fresh seafood, grilled fish (sardines, sole), sushi, exotic dishes, light summer salads. Best enjoyed within 2 to 3 years.
