The cuvée Essencial rouge du domaine des Schistes is from a terroir of schist marl slopes and clay-limestone plateau in the commune of Tautavel. The wine is quite expressive with notes of black fruit and zan. The palate is smooth, well-balanced and quite complex: spices (pepper) mingle with black fruits (blackberry). Good length. Good value for money.

On the nose, this organic Languedoc wine opens with fruity notes, laurel, tapenade (black olive), and some black fruit (blackberry). The palate is fruity, both aromatically and flavor-wise. The attack is slightly fresh and supple. Then the palate remains balanced between thirst-quenching sensation and suppleness. The tannins are rich, without astringency.
