The cuvée Essencial rouge du domaine des Schistes is from a terroir of schist marl slopes and clay-limestone plateau in the commune of Tautavel. The wine is quite expressive with notes of black fruit and zan. The palate is smooth, well-balanced and quite complex: spices (pepper) mingle with black fruits (blackberry). Good length. On the palate, it's opulent, silky and licorice-flavored. It goes well with tasty meats: leg of lamb cooked in rosé, duck with honey and spices, capon with chanterelles.
