AOP Vinsobres

Located in the Drôme department, AOP Vinsobres benefits from an exceptional terroir. The vineyards, perched between 200 and 400 meters above sea level, benefit from ideal exposure, combined with clay-limestone soils, marking the unique character of this appellation.

The history of the Vinsobres PDO dates back to the 1950s. It was in 2006 that this region was recognized as an appellation contrôlée, consecrating the quality of its wines. The "Cru des Côtes du Rhône" label was granted in 2009, further recognizing its privileged status.

Vinsobres PDO red wines are generally made from a blend of grape varieties, with Grenache often predominating. The wines are distinguished by their intense color, ripe red fruit aromas, and well-structured tannins. They offer a balance between power and elegance. Endowed with excellent cellaring potential, these wines can blossom over time, revealing additional nuances and increased depth.

Vinsobres wines, with their fruity character and structure, pair perfectly with Mediterranean dishes. From grilled meats with Provençal herbs to lamb-based dishes and even local cheeses, the food and wine pairing possibilities are varied and delicious. Try them on a gigot of lamb for example!

The Vinsobres protected designation of origin (PDO) covers 370 hectares of vines, spread over 9 communes in the Vaucluse region: Vinsobres, Buis-les-Baronnies, Cairanne, Mollans-sur-Ouvèze, Rasteau, Roaix, Saint-Marcellin-lès-Vaison, Saint-Romain-en-Viennois and Séguret.
