Mantoulan is the name of a locality 500 m to the east of Clos Lapeyre. It's an old, renowned wine-growing area that has been replanted at high density with traditional Jurançon grape varieties from massal selection: Petit Manseng, Courbu and Camaralet. The plot covers 1.60 hectares and produces 4,000 to 6,000 bottles a year. For three generations, the Larrieu family has cultivated vines on a part of their estate traditionally devoted to mixed farming. Jean-Bernard LARRIEU, his father Marcel and the Clos Lapeyre team cultivate 17 hectares of vines on steep slopes facing the Pyrenees. The vineyards are planted on hillsides at altitudes of between 250 and 350 meters. The sometimes steep slopes mean that around nine hectares are cultivated on terraces.
