The Rasteau from domaine Pique-Basse is a magnificent southern red wine! The nose of this Rasteau offers an aromatic palette of black fruits and fine spices. On the palate, a silky, velvety feel is displayed, with a fresh, persistent dynamic thanks to excellent acidity. Elegant, mellow tannins with a good presence add fullness. The open, pleasing ensemble seduces with its already mature expression.
The Domaine de Pique-Basse is a superb estate located in the Roaix appellation. Originally from Franche-Comté, Olivier Tropet trained as an oenologist. In 1998, he took over his grandfather's estate and vineyards in the Rhône valley, at the foot of the Ventabren massif and east of the Rasteau terroir, a vineyard facing east/south-east, opposite Mont Ventoux. Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2020, domaine 1 étoile: "We've been following Olivier Tropet for several vintages, and each time his wines seduce us with their rightness of tone, whether it's on the too little-known Roaix terroir, which he enhances wonderfully, or with his sumptuous Rasteau."
