A few words about Domaine Thevenet Quintaine
Thevenet Quintaine revolves around 3 estates in Macon and Viré-clessé: the domaine de la Bongran, domaine Emilian Gillet and domaine de Roally. Jean Theveney, the region's most talented spearhead, has always produced wines with strict respect for terroir. The estates Thevenet Quintaine launched their organic certification in 2008. Here, we fall under the spell of the purity and elegance of the wines. A great moment for each cuvée.
Guide des meilleurs Vins de France 2020 about Thevenet Quintaine / Domaine de la Bongran: Building on an ancient tradition of mellow wines ("levroutés", as they used to say), Jean Thévenet and his son Gautier have worked hard to keep the tradition of wines with residual sugars alive in this part of Burgundy. The mention levrouté was made official for the 400 hectares of the Viré-Clessé appellation in May 2018: it authorizes a residual sweetness of between 8 and 18 grams/liter. Currently, the domaine's production specializes in dry-tender white wines. Their fullness, richness and lack of oakiness set them apart in this sector of Burgundy. In addition to Bongran, the Thévenets also produce wines at Domaine de Roally (Mâcon-Villages) and Domaine Émilian Gillet (Viré-Clessé). The wines have been certified organic since the 2012 vintage.
Robert Parker: Jean Thévenet produces consistently superb white wines, highly concentrated, fruity and floral.
Bettane & Desseauve: Jean Thévenet is the undisputed leader of quality in Mâconnais. (...) His simplest cuvées already have the richness of constitution of a fine Pouilly-Fuissé and attest to the class of hillside soils.
