Santenay Abbey

The Abbaye de Santenay in a few words....

The Domaine de l'Abbaye de Santenay is a family estate covering 14 Ha and is one of Santenay's historic estates (5th generation).

The name comes from the winery located in a former Abbey dating back to the 17th century. This monument boasts splendid Gothic vaults; the floor is covered with large stone slabs, and the barrel cellar on the lower level has Romanesque vaults.

This is one of the most prestigious wineries in Santenay.

The 14 Ha are almost all grouped under the Santenay appellation, with the exception of vines located in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune (1.75Ha) and a vineyard based in the commune of Pernand-Vergelesses (0.18 Ha)

The Domaine de l'Abbaye de Santenay produces mainly Pinot Noir (90% of the wines produced), and draws its strength from a high-quality parcel of vines; indeed, all the vines on the estate are between 50 and 70 years old, which makes it possible to obtain grapes from quality plants.

The management of the Abbaye de Santenay estate is based on biological control (grapes certified for 7 years) accompanied by biodynamics (for 5 years). The soil is worked according to its characteristics to ensure that the root system functions properly.
