With the
Pinot Gris Grand Cru du domaine Etienne Loew, Pinot gris grand cru ENGELBERG, we're in the upper part of the Engelberg grand cru with a muschelkalck veneer on Oolythic limestone pebbles. The vines, planted in 1989, are in their prime. This situation allows for physiological ripeness with lower alcoholic potential. This terroir always produces easily digestible wines. The wine is opulent and rich, with smoky, toasty notes. Heir to a family that has been present in Westhoffen since the 18th century, Etienne Loew took over his ancestors' winegrowing tradition in 1996. Full of passion and projects, he is keen to preserve the best of the legacy of the past. Respect for terroir, vines and wine is at the heart of Etienne's work. Respect for the terroir means understanding it, so as to best combine its geological and climatic characteristics with the requirements of the grape variety. The Etienne Loew estate is run using biodynamic agriculture: the wines produced are fine, precise, elegant, in all colors: great gourmet wines!
Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2020 : domaine 2 étoiles "His style is sure-footed and open-minded, and his wines stand out for their elegance, with a range that has become increasingly homogeneous over the years. A few sulfur-free cuvées stand out, with pinot noir remaining the safe bet."
