Le rasteau du domaine Pique-Basse is a magnificent southern red wine! The nose of this Côtes-du-Rhône Village Rasteau offers an aromatic palette of black fruits and fine spices. On the palate, a silky, velvety feel is combined with a fresh, persistent dynamic thanks to excellent acidity. Elegant, mellow tannins with a good presence add fullness. The whole is open and pleasing, with a mature expression. Domaine de Pique-Basse is a superb estate in the Roaix appellation. Originally from Franche-Comté, Olivier Tropet trained as a nologist. In 1998, he took over his grandfather's estate and vineyards in the Rhône valley, at the foot of the Ventabren massif and east of the Rasteau terroir, a vineyard facing east/south-east, opposite Mont Ventoux. Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2020, domaine 1 étoile: "We've been following Olivier Tropet for several vintages, and each time his wines seduce us with their rightness of tone, whether it's on the too little-known Roaix terroir, which he enhances wonderfully, or with his sumptuous Rasteau."
