The Cuvée Chasse-Coeur from domaine Pique-Basse is a superb Côtes du Rhône village. Full-bodied and well-structured, this cuvée has a lovely depth, deliciousness and substance to face generous dishes. Domaine de Pique-Basse is a superb estate in the Roaix appellation. Originally from Franche-Comté, Olivier Tropet trained as a nologist. In 1998, he took over his grandfather's vineyards in the Rhône valley, at the foot of the Ventabren massif and to the east of the Rasteau terroir, a vineyard facing east/south-east, opposite Mont Ventoux. Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2020, domaine 1 étoile: "We've been following Olivier Tropet for several vintages, and each time his wines seduce us with their rightness of tone, whether it's on the too little-known Roaix terroir, which he enhances wonderfully, or with his sumptuous Rasteau."

L'enfer des Balloquets du Domaine Robert Perroud bears this name because every year, the grape-pickers go through an ordeal picking the grapes from this hillside whose slope is sometimes over 40%! This Brouilly is supple, full-bodied and deep; it's a great success in the 2022 vintage, sunny and full of character!

The Grand Vin Rouge du Château Cazebonne is the estate's flagship cuvée, representing the most accomplished expression of its terroir. Produced from the best plots, the Grand Vin Rouge is mainly composed of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This organic wine develops intense aromas of ripe red fruit, such as cherry and plum, accompanied by subtle notes of vanilla and spices, the result of barrel ageing. The palate is both full-bodied and elegant, with silky tannins and a long finish.

The Cuvée Au Coeur de Ventabren from Domaine Pique-Basse comes from plots of Syrah planted in 1975 in the foothills of the Ventabren massif at a place called "Croix de Cornu" with clay soil (a mixture of yellow and white marls) naturally giving a low yield of 30 hectoliters per hectare. The color is dark, almost black, with blood-red highlights. The nose opens with smoky notes of black pepper and blond tobacco, followed by mineral aromas and well-integrated wood. The palate, all spicy length, is perfectly matched by the freshness of smooth, taut, still-tight tannins.

L'atout du Pique du domaine Pique-Basse is a cuvée from a single 45-year-old plot of white Grenache, very rare in a "roaixois" landscape dominated by red wines, located below the Ventraben massif lieu dit les crottes. This 100% Grenache blanc develops notes of sun-kissed fruit, followed by a remarkable balance between mellowness and freshness, finishing with a citrus/fennel duo. A gastronomic white!

The Rasteau from domaine Pique-Basse is a magnificent southern red wine! The nose of this Rasteau offers an aromatic palette of black fruits and fine spices. On the palate, a silky, velvety feel is displayed, with a fresh, persistent dynamic thanks to excellent acidity. Elegant, mellow tannins with a good presence add fullness. The open, pleasing whole seduces with its already mature expression.
